An experience we will never forget
March 24, 2012

This day tour takes you to visit two most interesting attractions around Ho Chi Minh City: the Tay Ninh Holy See of Vietnamese Caodaism and the legendary Cu Chi tunnel.

Detailed program

Sai Gon - Tay Ninh - Cu Chi Tunnels - Sai Gon (L)

Pick you up at hotel at 08:00am in Sai Gon for departing to Cu Chi Tunnels (70km from Sai Gon) was created around 1948 to assist Viet Minh in their combat with the French. Building continued over the next 25years until it was an underground city with living areas, kitchens, storage, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers. In places, it could house up to 10,000 people who virtually lived underground for years…. getting married, raising children. During the American War the entire area of Cu Chi was designated a free fire zone and was heavily bombarded. From 1988, two sections of tunnels have been opened up for visitors. Then continue to the ornate temple of Cao Dai and attend the fantastic mid-day service when the followers fill the hall wearing colored robes, a symbol of the curious combination of the Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. Have lunch at the local restaurant. Then we drive to Drop off at hotel in Sai Gon. End of services

Cao Dai and Cu Chi tunnel were our highlights in Ho Chi Minh city and we learnt many interesting things. Mr Thong, our knowledgeable, friendly, hilarious tour guide made the long way to these sites extremely enjoyable. Cao Dai temple is an exotic building decorated in bright color with the eyes, dragon symbol everywhere. The best time to visit is before 12 am to see the midday pray which was new to me. Followers dress in white and the seniors in red, blue, the rite took place in silence. This style of worship is different to anything I have experience before. This tour to this temple was combined with a visit to Cu Chi tunnel. It was great for us to experience a part of war while moving in the tunnel which is hot, humid, dark and narrow for the Westerners size, definitely not for claustrophobia people. Do not miss a chance to fire with AK 47, M16 or M60.
